Shame, (2011), dir. Steve McQueen
Just saw Shame today. This was such a compelling film. I can’t exactly say it’s enjoyable, considering that you’re watching someone basically self-destruct and lash out at others rather than confront his own issues.
But there are moments of levity and humor, especially between Michael Fassbender and Nicole Beharie. And Carey Mulligan as Fassbender’s sister also added an interesting dynamic to the story. I need more time to sit with this, but I’m glad I saw it.
